The global and sustainable design school, BESIGN School, based in Cagnes-sur-Mer, celebrated its 10-year anniversary in style on October 21, 2023.

On this occasion, it opened its doors to the local residents to introduce them to the institution’s values and the quality of work done by the students.

In addition to this open house day, the school also organized an evening bringing together alumni and other prominent figures to celebrate these first years filled with creativity and significant projects. During this gathering, Mr. Louis Nègre, the Mayor of the town, delivered a moving speech about the fundamental principles of the institution and its local as well as international relevance. The Mayor commended the deep-seated values and convictions that have characterized the school since its inception. He particularly emphasized how this cutting-edge design school had successfully integrated into the cultural and professional landscape of the region and beyond. The school now hosts students from over thirty different nationalities.

From its early years, the establishment has shown a genuine commitment to position itself as a major advocate for sustainable development in the field of design. BESIGN’s core mission lies in the successful combination of comprehensive education and raising awareness about environmental issues.

Beyond this special occasion to reflect on past achievements, this anniversary was also marked by a new accolade for BESIGN School: it became the first higher education institution to be awarded the Engaged for Ocean label! This prestigious recognition attests to the school’s real and ongoing dedication to the protection and understanding of marine environments, which are essential for life on Earth. Therefore, this recognition is a reward for the significant efforts made over the past 10 years to instill in students the necessity of caring for our planet.

With a decade full of diverse and fruitful projects, BESIGN School aims to continue on this very promising path and enthusiastically embrace the challenges that the future holds. In this regard, obtaining the Engaged for Ocean label strengthens the institution’s determination to contribute to the development of a design philosophy even more focused on environmental preservation and social cohesion.

Whether during the open house day or the grand alumni gathering, this celebration of BESIGN School’s 10th anniversary has highlighted the shared values that unite students, teachers, and the local community. Indeed, they all share the same desire to see a society oriented toward the future, where every project is developed with respect for environmental and human concerns.
