Jade Nicault, MASTER 2 student at BESIGN School

Student in her final year of master’s degree, Jade offers us a retrospective of her journey within BESIGN.

BACHELOR 1

During the first year, we explore the fundamentals of drawing as well as the technical aspects of design.

We familiarize ourselves with essential basics and acquire the necessary skills and tools to practice the profession of designer. I was immediately drawn to the warm and familial atmosphere of the school. Additionally, we attended workshop classes to learn how to use machines and create prototypes for our projects.

BACHELOR 2 & 3

In the second year, we deepened our skills in 3D modeling software, allowing us to enhance the realism of our project visuals. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a portion of the year took place remotely. One project that particularly stood out for me involved reimagining a birdhouse, taking into consideration environmental challenges.

The third year is dedicated to Major Projects.

These span over a 4-month period during which we design a product related to a randomly assigned topic. Mine revolved around pets. I developed furniture shared between humans and cats to optimize space in small interiors and provide entertainment for the cat.

MASTER 1

In the fourth year, I took part in an exchange program in Germany, joining a design school in Cologne. This experience provided me with the opportunity to meet new people who shared a different vision of design. Upon my return, I had the chance to supervise a group of around ten students as part of a partnership with Decathlon. Our mission was to assist clients with issues related to employee social connections in a post-COVID context. These partnerships helped me develop strong teamwork skills.

MASTER 2

The fifth year is primarily dedicated to writing the thesis and completing a diploma project. In my case, I collaborated with Lisa on my thesis, which explores the importance of cultivating altruism and kindness, as well as the crucial role of the designer in transmitting these values.
