Across the Mediterranean, cities are overheating, becoming isolated, and fragmenting. We did not see these as separate problems, but as an interconnected crisis. Yet in the past, our cities were designed to breathe, gather, and endure. What if tradition were not just a memory, but a roadmap for the future? This question gave rise to Re.Connect, a platform that turns shared heritage into solutions for tomorrow. From collective memory to collective action, we aim to reconnect cities with people, places, and their purpose.

Re.Connect is a collaborative design system dedicated to climate resilience across the Mediterranean. It connects today's urban challenges with ancestral knowledge, activates local resources, and brings together a network of stakeholders to co-create concrete solutions. The platform makes it possible to explore, connect, and prototype, bridging ancient knowledge and future challenges. It is a call to reimagine Mediterranean cities through inclusive, contextual, and regenerative design processes rooted in their territory.

The Re.Connect platform is the project's central tool. It brings together students, architects, NGOs, craftspeople, local elected officials, and citizens in a shared digital space where knowledge, materials, and solutions are exchanged. Through a set of interactive maps covering heritage, public policies, and resources, users can explore traditional wisdom, exchange ideas, and design solutions adapted to the territory. Re.Connect turns Mediterranean heritage into an open-source engine for innovation, participation, and sustainability.

Arcada is the first prototype to emerge from the Re.Connect platform. It is a modular urban structure designed for the city of Nice, offering shade, comfort, and a gathering space. Inspired by cane weaving, pergolas, and clay-based cooling systems, it relies on local, natural, and circular materials. The project was co-created through workshops bringing together students, architects, craftspeople, and local partners, turning design into a shared experience.
